Pig Production Training Ltd (PPT) was established in 1995 by international pork industry consultants Bernard Peet and Mick Evans. Its key objective is to help pig production companies capitalise on people as the most important resource in achieving high productivity and profitability.

Bernard and Mick have both been involved in training for over 20 years and have delivered programmes in Europe, Canada, the USA, Central America and the Far East. They developed and produced the PPT technical training modules, which are now used in systems with over 500,000 sows around the world.

A graduate of Leeds University, Mick spent 16 years with Pig Improvement Company, eventually becoming production manager of the 6,500-sow UK breeding pyramid.

Since 1988, Mick has worked as a production consultant advising on management, housing and business development. He has been involved in a number of overseas technical support contracts, including the provision of training. Mick is a regular speaker at producer meetings and conferences in Europe and North America.

After graduating from Reading University, Bernard worked for 6 years in research and commercial management before becoming manager of the National Agricultural Centre’s Pig Unit in the UK, where he established an international reputation for his work.

Since 1991, he has worked as a consultant in all sectors of the pork chain, covering production, quality assurance and marketing. Winner of the prestigious David Black Award in 1989 for his work communicating technical information, Bernard has continued this work through magazine articles, producer meetings, training courses and on-farm advice. He moved from the UK to Alberta, Canada in 2001.
